Absolute - a divine spark of inspiration
Absolute - beyond human control
Absolute - complete, infinite and unconditional

Embraced by Ars, the Artist turns into stone and becomes Ars himself, melting with Her into Unity. Or, maybe, Her touch brings the petrified Artist to life, since he cannot achieve full humanity without Her blessing.
Ars, subtle as She is, has a power over the artist, who is helpless and dependant, although rewarded with a laurel wreath. In his suffering he knows that the golden crown is a burden. As much as he would like to break free, he is not able to escape from this slavery. Alone, he cannot exist, so his soul is riven between pain and happiness, protest and devotion. Only united with Ars he can come to the complete and perfect entity - Absolute.

I love the faces, and the clouds are magnificent. The bodies and the male's hair, however, don't really show as much attention as the faces (save for the hands -- they're perfect). The male's hair especially looks detached from the picture, but unlike the female's hair, it doesn't seem intentional. Of course, I could be wrong...

If you finish them, this picture would drop my jaw so hard it'd hit the core of the earth ... you get my point

I just thought of something that might add some more interest to this painting
the hand that is making a fist maybe since he was a statue and turning to real life man have little chips falling from him
in this thigh area maybe some more grays to show its part marble ...

The stone effect is good - simple but quite effective

The faces are great, his especially

The contrast on his torso is too light, and his arm is not only a different saturation, it doesn't cast a shadow on his chest (and neither does hers)

The way his thumb exactly touches his leg - a little thing, but my eye keeps coming back to it

I complemented this over at CGTalk. Seems only right i pay the same respect here.

My only crit...? I'd have liked to of seen the base of the statue darkened a bit more, it sits a little to easily against the clouds and thus gets lost. That minor quibble asside, top marks.

Not one of you best, the main thing with the arms were mentioned by BaronImpossible already, I'll add that the lightsource on the arms are also different from the light on the figures (front vs. top), brushwork on clouds are a little too "dabby", nothing major though.

Besides the mentioned arm and light issue, I think this peice is beautiful and would hang it in my home any day as is. The description you gave for it made me think and apreciate the peice that much more. I'm impressed and would love to see more work form you. Thanks for sharing.

I've seen this piece before on another site and still absolutely love it! The concept is original and intriguing, I appreciate that you included a story in your description of it

I love the way their bodies flow from the hard stone at the bottom to the woman's whispy, swirling hair...I personally really like the the golden clouds and the mystical atmosphere they give to the piece...beautiful
