Description

Oh, paint the white of my wedding dress grieving black
For a widow I am, not a bride!
Mourning over my youth forever buried in the depths of these tombs,
As a flower dies without a sip of dew,
I wither away without the warm breath of my beloved sun.

****
Well, that's an outcome of a non stop few day work. I have decided, that I need to work a LOT on the anatomy and skin shading of my characters, and so I tried, in this one, to work the hardest I can on it.
I have done a lot of studies (mainly consisting of looking at myself in a mirror ;P), tries etc before even beginning to work on this.

I cannot, unfortunately, publish a full WIP of the work, as it's going to be published soon, but I am still sharing some sketches and closeups and a tiny tutorial :)

Done in Painter7 and Photoshop CS.

You'd think your toes would be apart from eachother more because of the angle they are to the foot. And I can't really tell if her foot is resting on something or not, but it is a very beautiful picture. I like it a lot.

Wow this is incredible, I always love the textures you do, and especially the intricate patterns on the clothing. My only (very very) minor crit, which I noticed after looking at it for a long time, is the fact that her calves are not shaped the same way, but maybe my eyes are deceiving me. Regardless, +9/9, gorgeous work.

Well I think you'll get loads of "awesomes" and "cools" and "amazings" with this, so I hope you don't mind a slight crit. From the tummy up in the painting, it's superb. Great face, lovely hand, lovely lighting. I think her legs down throw off the painting a lot though. The left foot is in a really awkward position, and the calfs look a might off, as well as the position of her right knee, I think perhaps it's too close to her torso, making it look as if she has almost no upper leg. I think if you fixed those few minor things the piece would have a much more inviting effect.

Never fail to impress, and congrats on your position helping with ImagineFX.

Maybe it's just a stereotype, but I think her ankle is a bit too thick (we call em' cankles in the US :p). That's about the only part that really imo needs a tweak.

You've mastered fabric no doubt...how about stepping out of that comfort zone and trying for say...transparencies or even transparent fabric :)

Keep up the good work, and thanks for the extra links.

It really gives that spatial 3dimensional feeling.
I believe the rocky background is actually a manipulated photo. Am I right? ;)

 07/12/06 @086

Wonderfull stuff.

There are some slight anatomical 'mishaps'
but they are metnioned so I wo't go in repeat:p
I think the the greyish shadow on her right shoulder
is a bit out of place.

The lighting and details are awesomeness.

You did use a photo for the background right?:p

Ah well, I could be very well mistaken as youre so talented

Thank you so very much for the feedback guys :)
As for fixing, as far as publishing goes, it's a bit too late, but I think I might fix it for my personal satisfaction :p

As for the background, no, it's not a photo. I couldn't place a full rock texturing tutorial, as that is a part of the publication, but I tried to put a few tips in the link you can see attached.
The background is just some really easy to paint smudges and custom brushes made BASING on rocks (made a custom from my own rock photo). I still don't think it counts as "manipulation" cause it's painted... Or am I wrong?

yeah the back leg does look a little off, but you have to really soak it in to notice, the main focus of the painting is completely well done though, superb technique, the lighting alone is in a class of its own.

A beautiful image that goes along with the myth. The only thing that confued me was the flowers. Lilly's don't really go with the myth of Persephone, but a very beautiful painting nonetheless.

Wow.. If I hadn't seen your works with my own eyes, I probably wouldn't have beleived that someone could paint so realistically. This is just so amazing!! You must have so much patience.. I really wanted to see your 'additional dowloads' but the links won't work. That's okay though:)
And just out of cutiousity, how long have you been painting? I have just began experimenting with photoshop, and I hope that a few years down the road I'll be as good as you:) Thanks for sharing your beautiful paintings and being an inspiration.
